YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I firmly believe a bride can be hands on and take care of most of the wedding details by herself. Don't be afraid to try! More importantly, I hate the idea of paying someone to do something that I can do myself. I am 100% up to the task...all of the tasks.

The outside of the pocketfold

Picture
The outside pocket will be held together with a button and string closure. Shown with cardboard colored paper for the button.

The final product

THE FINAL PRODUCT:

2 black paper doilies. Typewriter font and typewriter keys.

RSVP Cards

The layout was inspired by knottie mrb5000. I thought they would be foolproof for guests but a few people still couldn't figure out how to fill them out properly. The envelopes had b&w Katharine Hepburn stamps.

CENTERPIECES -- COCKTAIL HOUR AND DINNER

BLACK AND IVORY LACE VOTIVE HOLDERS

The cocktail tables will be high tops with floor length ivory table cloths and tied with a black sash. I will be putting 3 black lace covered votive holders on top of each table.

The dinner tables will have floor length black table cloths. I glued ivory lace to the votive holders that will be placed on top of each dinner table. 9 per table in groups of 3.

To make these I used spray adhesive, lace and a glass votive holder.

Simply cut each piece of lace to fit around the votive holder with about half an inch overlapping. Spray a bit of glue on the end of the lace and attach to the votive holder. Let it set for a few minutes. Wrap the lace the rest of the way around the votive holder (PULLING TIGHT) and spray a little more glue to the other end of the lace. Overlap and press to the previously attached lace. When the glue dries the seam is nearly invisible!

Centerpieces will be tall vases with branches and hanging votive holders. At the base of each dinner table will be groups of ivory lace votive holders and mini sprigs of white flowers (hydrangeas?) with a few black feathers sticking out of the top.

TABLE NUMBERS

Picture
Here was my first attempt. I am trying to get them to look like typewriter keys. I like the size of this one. But I can't get a metal wire ring in the correct size to make a lip for this.

Picture
This is larger but has a lip which makes it look more like a key. These are really hard to paint, luckily I only have to make 8 or 9 of them!!

ESCORT CARD DECOR

Typewriters!

Picture
I finally found a beautiful vintage typewriter!! Our escort cards will be lining the table in typewriter font. The typewriter will be the centerpiece of the Escort Card Table!

So pretty and heavy!!!

BIRDCAGE CARDHOLDER

Picture
This is actually a candle holder and has a large spike coming out of the bottom. Instead of cutting it or filing it off I am covering it with styrofoam!

Picture
I purchased this birdcage a year or so ago at Target.

I am using a piece of foam that is thick enough to cover the spike when it is pressed down to the bottom of the birdcage.

Picture
I then covered the round foam with a piece of pretty filigree paper. When it is glued down it is flat and looks like a natural bottom.

Option #1

Here is the finished product with a black ribbon with a white ribbon underneath.

Picture
Option #2

Here is the finished product with a black & white striped ribbon. I love the black & white stripes but it could be too many lines with the lines of the birdcage.

CEREMONY DECOR: these will be used at the "alter" and then placed on either side of the fireplace in the reception ballroom

Picture
I found these black urns at a nursery at the end of fall last year. They are a little beat up but it's nothing a little putty and a can of black spray paint can't fix!

Purchased 2 urns.

Original price = $69.99 each. The clearance price for slightly damaged leftovers = $20.00 each!! WOOHOO!!

Picture
We are going to put curly willow in each urn and cover the opening with white flowers.

Proof of my fantastic bargain ;)

PROGRAM BASKET

Picture
I picked this basket up at Michaels. It is black (of course) and has a nice fall feel to it without being an apple basket or crate. It was 40% off too! I think the final price was around $6.00. I am not sure how or if I will decorate it.

MENU DISPLAY PERHAPS

Picture
I found this bulletin board hanging outside in downtown Lancaster. I love that it is black, aged, and says "Bulletin" at the top. This could be really cute to use for posting the menu.

KID BAGS

Picture
Here are the brown paper bags I purchased to use for the kid bags. I guess I will just fill them with some junk from the dollar store to keep them busy. Mostly game pads/coloring books. 13 came in the pack. I think it was $5.99 for the pack. We are allowing children at our event because they are our family! I don't expect there will be too many kiddos.
